Hmong Homemade Egg Rolls, the way you like it

Stuff you need

You can go to any store that has oriental food or any of the Asian Store you will be able to find the stuff that you need to make this tasty Egg rolls.

These are the stuff that you need. Click on the picture to enlarge the picture so you can see.

 

 

  

 

 

You need a bag of Classic Coleslaw Salad (14 oz), a pack of 25 wrapper, a bag of noodle (4 rolls), Lee Kum Kee Oyster Sauce, Black Pepper, Salt and Egg. You can add fish sauce, cilantros, green union if you like but that doesn't make much different to the taste.  So it is all up to you how you like it.

 

Step One:

Prepare

 

Spring Roll Pastry

 

The Spring Roll Pastry Wrapper came frozen, or if it is in the freezer then make sure that you take it out and let it thaw for a few hours until it ready.  When is ready, it is much easier to peel it off.

Noodle

1. Take the noodle out from the bag

2. Put it on a big bowl

3. Pour hot water from the sink in the bowl and let it

    soak the noodle for 5-10 minutes depending on how

    hot the water is.

 

4. Drain the noodle with cool water.

5. Cut the noodle about 3 inches long, you can use either knife or scissor to cut it.

Step Two:

Mix

1. Add a bag of Coleslaw

2. Add 2 to 3 table spoon of Lee Kum

    Lee (Oyster Sauce)

3. Add 1 Tea Spoon of salt

4. Add 1 egg

5. Mix nicely. You can taste the sauce

    and salt, add more if need.

 

Note: If you choose to go with Veggie, you are ready to go to the next step, but if you want the egg rolls with pork add number 6.

6. Add ground pork,

 

Step Three:

Roll

1.  Peels all the Spring Roll Pastry and

     put it on the side just before you

     roll. 

 2. Crack one egg and pour the yellow

     park in a small bowl and use as a

     glue on the end of the edge of the

     spring roll.

   

Note: If the wrapper peels too long it will dry out so you do not want to peels and let it sit for too long.

Here more pictures of demonstration for you to follow. You would need some practice how wrap the egg roll if you never done it before, but after you have done few times. You will get better at it.

 

3. Grab about a hand full and put almost

    the center of the spring roll as it show

    in the picture below.

Step Four: Cook

Best to have a deep frying pan and pour a whole gallon of corn or canola oil in the frying pan. The temperature of the oil have to reach at least 350 - 400 degrees.  You would have to stir and turn the egg rolls so it turn brown on every side.  With this temperature you should not cook longer then 5-7 minutes.  Depending on how much egg rolls you put in the frying pan.
