About Hmong Advocacy Task Force

We are a group of citizens and members of the Hmong Advocacy Task Force (subcommittee of AMOS) who love the Hmong people. We are united in our efforts to advocate and support our Hmong friends with issues that may concern them locally and internationally. Currently, we are outraged with the unjust and ill-treatment of the Lao-Hmong in Thailand.  Thousands of Hmong have been repatriated back to Laos without UN screening. The Hmong people were allies with the CIA during the 60's, and still today they pay a heavy price for this allegiance. We are asking our government to step up and take responsibility to end the aftermath of the Vietnam War.   You can click on "Save the Hmong" for more information about how you can support this cause.

The scripture reads, "It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery" (Galatians 5:1)The Constitution of the United States was established by people of faith. Christ is the foundation of our freedom. Without Christ, we would be subjected to a yoke of slavery. Given what Christ did for us, we are truly free indeed ... hallelujah! We are very fortunate that we live in the United States, "the land of the free." We do not have to worry about what we say or do. But the Hmong and many others do not have this same right to live freely. They are begging for our help just so they can live another day without worry of being tortured or killed. We desire that all people live freely without the consequences of ill-treatment or the fear of persecution.

How does it make us feel to know that we are free yet many people still experience a yoke of slavery? You are right! We would do what Christ did by setting others free, and speaking on their behalf. That’s why we advocate for the Hmong and others who are suffering from oppression and persecution and those that are not allowed to live freely. We do the work of justice and peace for others because we want them to be free. It may not be easy but we do it any way and when we do it, it empowers us to become better people. To stand firm is not to stand quiet, but to take action and speak up. By freeing the oppressed from their sufferings, we bring peace, justice, and compassion to them as human beings. For we all are created equal in the eyes of God and we are one united family.

We encourage you to support the work of peace and justice by working together to establish peace and freedom even if it benefits only one person at a time.  We must strive to suppress the oppressors and bring freedom to people in our own country as well as abroad. No one wishes to be subjected to a yoke of slavery. Only when we live together peacefully and work to ensure equality for all are we truly free.
